# Glossary

> The words used in these docs.

| Term | Meaning |
| - | - |
| **Brand / company** | The business that sells through BrandGate. Every API credential belongs to one company. |
| **Reseller / customer** | A buyer who orders from the brand through the ordering portal. |
| **Order** | A purchase from a reseller, with lines, VAT and totals. Drafts are not exposed. |
| **SKU** | The product code. Use it to match products between your ERP and BrandGate. |
| **Acknowledge** | Tell BrandGate which order number your ERP gave an order, so it is never created twice. |
| **Scope** | A permission on a key or connection, such as `orders:read`. |
| **API key** | A `bg_live_…` secret a company admin creates for the company's own integration. |
| **OAuth connection** | Access a company approved for a partner's app. It can be revoked at any time. |
| **Webhook** | A signed HTTPS request BrandGate sends when something changes. |
| **MCP** | Model Context Protocol, a standard that lets AI assistants use tools such as BrandGate. |
| **ERP** | The system that handles accounting, stock and orders inside the brand's business. |
